Imindounit Gorge

Imindounit Gorge

These gorges are located in the commune of Imindounit, 40 km from the Mejjat center. Constitute a natural landscape for lovers of climbing and motocross.
An otherwise bucolic and moreover exhilarating return to the peaks seen from the bottoms of the so-called Imindounit gorges and this sudden literary memory between earth and sky, evoked by Gaston Rébuffat, one of the heroes of Annapurna, companion of Lionel Terray and others Maurice Herzog, who wrote about the mountain as one would do the desert: “Mountains live only on the love of men. There where dwellings, then trees, then grass become exhausted, the sterile, wild, mineral kingdom is born; however, in its extreme poverty, in its total nudity, it dispenses a wealth that is priceless: the happiness that we discover in the eyes of those who frequent it ''.

Imintanout, place of thought

In Berber "Imintanout" means the door of the small well. it is this cluse in the Jurassic limestones through which the asif Imintanout (the wadi of Imintanout) leaves the mountain to irrigate the Dir, the foothills of the Atlas. This is the door through which the route from Marrakech to Agadir has historically passed. It became a motorable track under the Protectorate, then a national road; but built a few years ago, the motorway avoided it. It passes further west, which dealt a heavy blow to the businesses of Imintanout.
Microcosm and macrocosm, the body and the landscape, in a human world, respond in a loop, indefinitely. Gourzatine is right in the middle, framed as it is by Mount Bou Ibawen on the left, and on the right by the eastern end of the Lemgo Mountains - which we used to call "the Elephant's Paws", it is the primary source water from snowmelt which in the spring feeds asif Imintanout.
In the landscape of Imintanout, the two leaves of the door are on the left the Bou Ibawen and on the right the Lemgo, and we can see in the background the Gourzatine, the medial mountain which will have supported my own mesology - as in others had their Zauberberg, their magic mountain ...

Tannery Sidi Al Mokhtar

it is the deep Morocco, far from tourists. And then, below the main road, an esplanade to accommodate the markets, is the famous Tannerie sidi Al Mokhtar, which has remained intact since medieval times
It is a unique and impressive spectacle of an open-air tannery. There are many stone vases filled with a wide range of dyes and various liquids spread like a large palette of watercolors. Men who move in the open air, from lime-white vats to colored vats to carry out this stage of transformation. Bare hands immersed in water and jars of pigments, subjected to chemical fumes and the sickening odors of rotting skin, the tanners wander from one tank to another and work tirelessly. besides a few shabby stalls of a flea market are there. Surprise, brightly colored skeins are drying on sticks. A small room at the back of the square houses a dry cleaners. Stone vats are filled with hot liquids. Friendly welcome from workers; authenticity
